• Relax in stressful situations
• Coordinate their mind & bodies
• Defend themselves
• Sit quietly
• Fall & roll safely
• Listen attentively and take responsibility
Why
might aikido be best for my child or children?
• Yoshinkan Aikido is a non-competitive and
non-aggressive martial art. We don’t spar with other students
using protective head gear & gloves, nor do we compete at competitions
as sport.
• Aikido is great for children who typically
don’t play a lot of team sports. Aikido develops their physical,
mental and coordination skills creating strong self esteem &
confidence.
• We run a traditional dojo which means the
children are expected to follow proper protocol and etiquette. Commands,
techniques & test are given in Japanese with instruction in
English.
• Our class size is small. Your child is not
in large classes…lost. Our classes are taught by head instructor
Sensei Matt de Heras (4th degree) and Joel Collins (2nd degree)
to ensure that your child will get the attention needed.
• It’s
fun! Your child will really like it. Come on in to watch with your
child or have them try out a few classes for free.
